چکیده
Gamma dicalcium silicate (γ-2CaO∙SiO2, abbreviated as γ-C2S) is considered a potential candidate construction material owing to its high carbonation reactivity and consequent CO2 absorption. This study investigates the diffusion of CO2, physical process, into hardened cement paste resulting carbonation, chemical process. diffuses from region concentration one lower concentration, which inner core cement. aimed examine whether ordinary Portland (OPC)/γ-C2S composite followed conventional laws diffusion. We also studied CaCO3 determine if products were formed in pores examined capture CO2. The specimens prepared subjected chambers for varying periods. results showed that deposited affected rate mortars pastes, densification such bodies decreased diffusion, leading shutdown pastes made OPC γ-C2S follows Fick’s second law, wherein there change diffusing at particular distance with time.

Sequestration of Martian CO2 by mineral carbonation
Carbonation is the water-mediated replacement of silicate minerals, such as olivine, by carbonate, and is commonplace in the Earth's crust. This reaction can remove significant quantities of CO2 from the atmosphere and store it over geological timescales. Here we present the first direct evidence for CO2 sequestration and storage on Mars by mineral carbonation. Electron beam imaging and analysi...
متن کاملCarbonation: An Efficient and Economical Process for CO2 Sequestration
Naturally occurring carbonation of cement-based materials is a slow phenomenon. Many factors control the rate of carbonation process in cement-based products. A comprehensive knowledge of the major factors controlling the rate of carbonation, and their effects on the properties of the materials subjected to it, is necessary for using this technology for CO2 sequestration. Most of the studies re...

This work presents the results of carbonation experiments performed on Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) steel slag samples employing gas mixtures containing 40 and 10% CO2 vol. simulating the gaseous effluents of gasification and combustion processes respectively, as well as 100% CO2 for comparison purposes. Two routes were tested, the slurry-phase (L/S = 5 l/kg, T = 100°C and Ptot = 10 bar) and the ...
متن کاملA review of mineral carbonation technologies to sequester CO2.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and sequestration includes a portfolio of technologies that can potentially sequester billions of tonnes of CO2 per year. Mineral carbonation (MC) is emerging as a potential CCS technology solution to sequester CO2 from smaller/medium emitters, where geological sequestration is not a viable option. In MC processes, CO2 is chemically reacted with calcium- and/or magn...
متن کاملMineral carbonation in peridotite rock for CO2 sequestration and a method of leakage reduction of CO2 in the rock
In the recent years, the amounts of green house gases have dramatically increased. This situation led to changing in climate conditions. One of the effective ways to reduce these amounts in atmosphere is CO2 capturing from huge spreading sources and injection it into geological formations. Peridotite is a type of rock that reacts with CO2 at higher rate when compared to the other rocks. Since t...
